When submitting photos to a challenge please keep in mind to follow the below rules. Breaking any combination of the following submission rules can result in your photo being removed from the challenge. Repetitive abuse of these rules will result in warnings, account suspension, and eventually deletion.

These rules have been created to maximize the quality of the photography and experience on the GuruShots platform.

Please remember, all images uploaded to the platform must be taken (shot) by you.

Same Photo

In multiple-photos challenges do not submit the same photo to the challenge multiple times. This can include any combination of the following:  different crop, angle, a tone change, color adjustment.

Similar

In multiple-photos challenges, do not submit similar photos to the Challenge. A similar photo is, on the most basic level, two or more photos that look the same. Rule of thumb is that if it looks similar, it is similar. Similar images can include any combination of the following: similar subject, background, foreground, and or location.

Similar photos can become subjective, do your part and don't test the rule. The goal of this rule is to promote a wide variety of photos submitted to a challenge to show off your skills.

We ask that you do not post the same images or similar images multiple times, cropped or with tone changes in the same challenge.

Images should be distinct and may be removed from the challenge.

Off-Topic

Submit on-topic photos to challenges with specific topics. The rules of the challenge are outlined by the title and the description of the challenge. The photo being submitted should include the objects/concepts of the challenge theme.

Winning

Once a photo has won a challenge it can't be used again in future challenges. This includes any revised versions with a crop, flip, or hue changes.

The spirit of GuruShots is to show off your photography skills and using a very similar photo every time to continue winning goes against that ethos.

We would appreciate it if you could try to win with other photos and retire similar photos.

The only unique case in which this is allowed: a photo is taking part in several active challenges and wins one of them. This is the only time where the photo will not be removed from the challenges.
Note: If you swap the photo out of the challenge after the win, you will not be able to bring it back in.

Copyrights

Any photo that has been proven to be the copyrighted work of another individual will be deleted from the platform. If you have uploaded photos to your account that are the copyrighted work of another individual your account will be deleted without warning. The burden of proof of copyright ownership is on the person submitting to the platform.

Composite images

Composite images are allowed on the platform, however, all parts of the composite need to be photographed by you. Purchasing/using any sort of stock imagery/icons/graphics to add to your photograph breaks this rule. If you took a photograph of a sky and added it to your image, that's fine. If you are using stock sky imagery in your image, that is not OK and will be grounds for removal of the image.

Artificial Intelligence

GuruShots does not allow the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) or AI post-processing images in any way.

All parts of the composition must be shot and owned by you. The ethos of GuruShots is to show off YOUR photography skill, please keep that in mind when submitting your photography to the platform.

If you upload photos to your profile and/or challenges that are AI, your account will be banned.
